Cambodia; Last but not least

Last week, I shared a bit more about my health, including the response of my body to the gases in the air, the pollution in the environment, and the poor quality of the water. Compared to my ionizer at home, the taste is not as I'm supposed to like, but when I drink bottled water from glass bottles from a well-known source, it's doable, and I do really like it. But then, of course, you're stuck with the glass bottles, and I don't live here in Cambodia, so finding a place to throw them away (not outside next to the road!) is not as easy as I'm used to in the Netherlands.

On the side, I also feel that my skin is getting dry, even after just showering. Not only do I drink healthier and better quality water at home, but I also shower with a special system that takes out the chlorines from the water so my skin hydrates better and the structure of my hair is not damaged. I also see that the shiny tone is decreasing, so from that point of view, it's time to go home.

However, I wasn't yet done with my plans for today, while I wanted to visit the art gallery I had missed yesterday. Again, the door was closed because the staff was having their lunch break. I could be disappointed, but I decided to walk along the boulevard, look into a couple of stores, to come back a little later. So I strolled further, where I came across a typical French store with china and even some products from the Netherlands.

Down the road, I walked into a typical Cambodian store with lovely suits and clothes. I was already in my mind wandering how it would be to wear something Cambodian and local to the next business event I'm attending next February. I would feel astonishingly great and proud that I went here all alone and met so many amazing souls, but deeply found myself at the same time. Well, I didn't find what I was looking for, and all the trousers were too long, and that amazed me, because almost every woman is my height here, so I thought it would be easier here than in the Netherlands to look for proper pants.

When I stepped out of the shop and waved 'goodbye' to the woman who had helped me, I headed over to the art gallery that had already been on my list for more than a day. Luckily, this time, it was open, and already by entering the gallery, I was amazed by the style of the painter. Exactly my vibe, my teint, my type of topics; like nature, flowers, a lot of colour, enthusiasm, passion, and authenticity. I liked the way she also tried some different techniques within her paintings and explored her way in how to get her message on the canvas and with that directly to the audience. One staircase higher, there was a classroom where courses were held, and art was made by students and people who were interested in creating something special. I was a bit sad, because I live so far away. Otherwise, I think I would have loved to go to her teaching classes and step out of the rush of life for a moment and into my creative and visionary mind.

Amazed by this visit, I was ready to finally head over to the resort, still having some Cambodian money in my wallet that I didn't want to take home with me, because I couldn't use it in Europe. In total, I guess it was about 11 euros, so I headed over to a local shop and bought some things that were quite cheap here, but expensive in my home country: dried mango and date chunks, pure matcha powder, black salt, and something to drink on my way back to the resort.

Well, the last part of the day and getting dressed well was quite difficult. Throughout the day, I got really sweaty, and I was really looking forward to taking a shower. However, when I left the resort, I already had to check out of my room, because there was already a booking for the afternoon and it had to be cleaned first. The resort manager told me there was a massage room, where I could refresh myself before heading over to the airport, but it turned out to be booked for a massage when I stepped in, and I had to refresh myself on the toilet, barely space to turn my but, and I couldn't wash my body and hair properly.

At least, I tried... It's definitely the first thing I'm gonna do when I'm back home

The taxi driver picked me up and took me all the way to the airport, where I had already changed my clothes to be prepared for the cold weather in the Netherlands. And even when I prefer to be in warmer places, I long for my cozy home, my own place, my bubble, and some fresh air. OH, and no mosquitoes, please, because all these little bites on my body are itching as hell.

At the airport, I wanted to eat a last thing before going on the plane again, because not to get jetlagged, it really helps to not eat on the plane, but to start eating when you arrive at your destination and directly the meal of the timezone you're in, so your body is directly in the best state. It was really difficult to find something; there was nothing vegan to find, not even a salad or a soup, and I was walking in circles and got a bit frustrated, because I didn't want to go on the plane hungry and hold that feeling for the next 18 hours. Luckily, I saw a Starbucks where the guy behind the counter made me a frozen smoothie from blackcurrants and blueberries in a 500 ml cup. Yesterday, in the organic restaurant, I also bought some small chocolate date donuts, from which I just ate 1 last night. The other 2 I take with me on the plane, so that will be the only thing  I eat. The rest of the time, I try to sleep as much as possible.

But hey, in the end I'm so grateful for all I've learned this trip, the fears I faced, overcame & have overwon. On to the next one!

You can conquer almost any fear

If you will only make up your mind to do so

Remember,

Fear doesn't exist anywhere except in the mind
